Animated Summer on the Roof

Join us for the special summer screenings on the rooftop of the Bohemian National Hall! Get carried away with contemporary Czech animated movies, which will strike you with the depth of the story. Who said animated movies are only for children? Come and see for yourself!

Rooftop opens at 7PM on the day of screening with a cash bar provided by Bohemian Spirit Restaurant. Movies start upon sunset at 8PM.

Extraterrestrial adventure of the world’s most popular cosmonaut! A dog living on the outskirts of a Russian city is forcibly sent into space but manages to crash-land on a faraway planet where she meets its indigenous inhabitants. The trouble begins when the humans decide to explore this planet by themselves, too.

This artistically rare film, set in 1989 at the end of the Communist era, is following the journey of a train dispatcher who is haunted by the ghosts of the past and threats of the presence. Inspired by the graphic novel of the same name, the movie won number of awards and was also submitted as the Czech entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards.

Aug 15, 2019 7:00 PM - LITTLE FROM THE FISH SHOP
One of the first Czech feature films using puppet animation. Deep underneath the sea surface, accompanied by a fish orchestra, the voice of the ocean is telling a story of a fish king and his daughter Little who are forced to move from the sea and open a fish shop. After they set up their business, the king's youngest daughter falls in love with a human.
