Czech That Film

Eighth Edition of the film festival Czech That Film began on April 5, 2019 in Los Angeles with the movie Golden Sting by the director Radim Špaček who also attended the opening night at Billy Wilder Theater at The Hammer Museum.The biggest overview of contemporary Czech films on the Northamerican continent is taking place from April to August 2019 in more than 20 cities in the US and Canada where a number of nine movies in total will be screened. The official guests of the biggest presentation of the Czech culture in North America are directors Jan Hřebejk (movies Suitor, Deserter), Radim Špaček (Golden Sting) and David Ondříček (Dukla 61). The festival is organized by the Czech Centers and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic with full participation of representative offices of the Czech Republic and the USA.

The aim of the festival Czech That Film is to provide an overview of selected works from the Czech cinematography closer to general population of the location where it will be screened. The screening will take place in the well known theaters and other venues. To mention one of them, it would be definitely Roxie Theatre in San Francisco which is one of the oldest and most visited theaters in the US. The festival is taking place in Los Angeles and in more than 20 cities in the US and Canada. In comparison to the last year, it has extended its venues for Boston, San Diego, Hartford, Cedar Rapids, and Edmonton in Canada. One of the participating cities is New York City and selected flms will be also screened in the Czech Center located in Manhattan.
