THEATER WORKSHOP

Acting with the Inner Partner

March 20 – April 7
Welcome Reception: March 19, 6-8 PM

Bohemian National Hall
321 East 73rd Street, New York

Acting with the Inner Partner - A Czech Acting Workshop Series in New York City will give American theatre practitioners, scholars, actors and the general public the opportunity to experience one of the Czech Republic’s most significant acting training and research disciplines – Acting with the Inner Partner (in Czech: “dialogické jednání”).  Professor Vyskočil, the discipline’s creator, and his selected team of theatre specialists from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU) will give a no cost, three-week workshop in New York City from March 20th-April 7th, 2007.  The introductory week will take place at the Bohemian National Hall in New York City.  The workshop will continue at a location to be announced. You are invited to attend to rehearse or simply to watch.

A welcome reception for Professor Vyskočil and his team will be held at the Bohemian National Hall on Monday, March 19th from 6 pm to 8 pm.  Professor Vyskočil  will give a text-appeal (a reading) in Czech of some of his short stories as part of the evening’s festivities.  Professor Vyskočil was one of the most important protagonists of Czech absurd and small-forms theatre of the 1960s, and a collaborator of many of leading Czech contemporaries including Václav Havel.
