A Beautiful Life I Will Have...

During the communist regime the Czech Republic was a closed-up country. Twenty years ago, with the appearance of freedom, the borders were opened and immigrants started arriving in our country. They have been coming from many different countries that suffer from war of political tremors and started filling refugee camps. The Prague Archa Theatre which is well-known for its international collaborations, initiated a project based on the collaboration between artists and asylum applicants directly in the refugee camp.

The renowned Czech documentary films maker Pavel Koutecky (directed of the film Citizen Havel) followed the remarkable and complex process of the performance preparations with compassion and humorous insight.
The director Jana Svobodova has created five performances dealing with the issues of immigrants over six years. At the same time she has developed a special method of theater work with people in extreme life situations. During the discussion following the film, Jana Svobodova and the Director of the Archa Theater Ondrej Hrab will present their socially engaging projects. The special guest of the evening will be American musician Michael Romanyshyn who has started the Allstar Refjudzi Band in Prague.
