BEATBOX CONCERT & SEMINAR. Presented by Jaro Cossiga, Tiny Beat and Anna Oravcova with special guests Kid Lucky & Rabbi Darkside. Admission Free.
It’s becoming a tradition in New York that members of the Czech beatbox scene from BeatBurgerBand
play yearly at the Czech
Center. Jaro Cossiga & Tiny Beat are coming back again this year to show of their skills. Jaro with BBB members have been performing at the Czech
Center every year since 2006 – including performances at festival One World, the Czech Street Festival and solo shows with their friends and fellow performers from NYC.
But this time you can expect a show and also a beatbox workshop by Jaro Cossiga with a little bit of theory by Anna Oravcova, a student of Philosophy at Charles University. Anna will be discussing the history, members, elements and philosophy of hiphop.
BBB & Anna presented 13 workshops in various Prague high schools last winter. The workshops were so well received that there will be new workshops this year. Jaro Cossiga has a special teaching method using the Czech alphabet. He has been teaching beatbox for eight years. He’s taught in ghettos, refugee camps, jails etc. so he can teach almost anybody.
The Czech Center workshop will also have some special American friends and teacher guests – Kid Lucky (BeatBoxer Entertainment) and Rabbi Darkside (Third Party, SayWordEnt.)
Jaro Cossiga & Tiny Beat with NYC friends from the Hop’n’Nob album will perform in the evening show. The Hop’n’Nob album was released by Archa Theatre in 2009. Kid Lucky and Rabbi Darkside will also perform with BBB. Kid Lucky is the president of BeatBoxer Entertainment. Beatboxer, rapper and teacher, Rabbi Darkside, plays in Prague very often. He collaborated with Jaro on his 2 albums as well as several other projects. He teaches at the New Design High School and was performing on MTV in the show MADE. His colleagues from Third Party - Farbeon & Hired Gun will come to support him for sure.
At the event you’ll see a special show of Kid Lucky & Human BeatBox Orchestra - Kid is conductor, switching on and off the beatboxers & rappers and making arrangements of the song live. This time BBB will travel more throughout the US, not only NYC. Before the Czech Center show they will go to the Trinity International Hip-Hop Festival to conduct a beatbox workshop and Anna will speak about hiphop’s history. Jaro Cossiga is returning there for the 3rd time.
After the NYC show Cossiga, Mr. Kuzhell from DaSkaRecords and Lokey Photography will fly to Houston, Santa Fe, Phoenix, Palm Springs and Los Angeles to conduct more shows and workshops.
BeatBurgerBand consists of 2-7 of the best Czech beatboxers (3x champions of the Czech Beatbox Team Battle). In the world they are close to the top, they were 2nd in the World Hip-Hop Challenge a 2nd in the World Championships in Berlin the BeatboxBattle World Championship 2009 in the category of team beatbox.
