Screening of the film Berkat and Marsho (Happiness and Freedom). Dir. David Čálek,

2007, Russian-Czech version/English subtitles.

The children’s dance group Marsho came into being in the Sputnik refugee camp on the Chechen-Ingush border. Over 9,000 Chechen refugees have been living here for more than five years. Following the massacre of civilians in Chechnya, an organization called Berkat was set up in the Czech Republic with the aim of helping

victims, in particular women. Following the film will be a discussion with Jana Hradílková from the Berkat.

The film screening will be accompanied with the photography exhibition To Live to
See a Better Day: Portraits of the lives of women in Afghanistan, Chechnya and Iraq by photographer Iva Zímová.
