Live Music:  Antonin Fajt & Matt Norman
Antonin Fajt and Matt Norman are a piano and percussion duet, bound by shared appreciation of jungle music, free jazz, and late impressionism. They perform new, original music as well as free improvisation.

For this project, we are assembling a selection of wooden, glass, and metal objects, as well as electronic samples to create a collage of unusual sounds inspired by the film Monster. With these we intend to create a set of small compositions connected by improvisations.

Antonin Fajt:
Antonin Fajt is a Czech-born composer, pianist, and producer. He is the fortunate offspring of a legendary avant-garde duo Bittova & Fajt. Antonin graduated from Bard College in 2014 with BA in music-composition. During his studies he has written several chamber pieces (e.g. "Thyme" for string quartet, "Feral Spirits" for piano trio, clarinet, percussion and bass) and an orchestral piece, "Amian." As of late he's been exploring the possibilities of prepared piano and extended techniques. His current projects include: Window Quartet - a contemporary jazz ensemble, and no good 1's - a duet with drummer/composer Dean Sharp. Antonin has presented his music as a performer or composer at venues such as Le Poisson Rouge, Merkin Hall, The Morgan Library, and National Theater in Czech Republic.

Matt Norman bio:
Matt Norman is a drum set user, composer, and recording artist from Petaluma, CA. One of his major musical objectives is to “coordinate beautiful chromatic and jazz harmony with musical reactions to industry, expressed on percussive instruments.” He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Bard College, where he studied with professors John Esposito, Erica Lindsay, and Thurman Barker, and focused on composing and improvising with small ensembles. Norman loves brass instruments and has released several albums comprised mostly of songs that do not exceed one minute.
