*** POSTPONED *** Concert: The Best of Cimbalom Music Harafica

One of the best ranked cimbalom bands in the Czech Republic is going overseas for the first time for their US tour that will culminate in New York. Audiences are fond of Harafica for their natural temperament that these young musicians bring into their performance of traditional folk songs as well as classical and modern music. It is then no surprise that Harafica concerts are usually sold out within hours of presales, whether it be in their Moravian hometown of Uherské Hradiště or elsewhere.

About HARAFICA:

The origins of the Harafica cimbalom band date back to 1999, when Pavel Štulíř was putting together a line-up for a children’s cimbalom band for an elementary art school in Uherské Hradiště. The members of the Harafica band chose their name in 2005 after they had left the school.

In the past 19 years, the band has gone through a significant artistic evolution. Although their music is rooted in folk music, their current production goes beyond the borders of folk music in both dramaturgy and genre. It is more like different genres intersect each other. The band is not afraid of incorporating modern and classical music in their repertoire and they also create their own music.

Led by an experienced cimbalom player, Petr Gablas, and the 1st Chair, Martin Melichárek, the ensemble of charismatic musicians has garnered respect among other cimbalom bands and mainly among its audience. Legendary performances involving actors of the Slovácké divadlo (theater) in Uherské Hradiště are the most popular projects in the region. Thanks to that, the Harafica band has worked with well-known Czech figures like Květa Fialová, Ondřej Brzobohatý, and Vojtěch Dyk. Since 2016, the Harafica band goes on their Harafica Tour each spring.
