CZECH DREAM DIRECTORS: VILLAGE B; JAZZ WAR

FEBRUARY 27, 7 PM

CZECH CENTER NEW YORK

The screening presents the early films of the directors of the much disputed documentary

Czech Dream (2004) in the anticipation of their ‘opus magna’ release in the US.

Filip Remunda’s film, Village B, about the people of Blšany is seen through the eyes of Mr. Tříska, the local one-room school principal and an amateur filmmaker, creator of a movie about “the smallest community in the world with a first league soccer team.”

Vít Klusák’s film, Jazz War is a portrait of his estranged father, well known jazz pianist Emil Viklický. When he refused his sons request to participate on the film, the director put an ad in newspapers to find a look-alike that would impersonate his father throughout this bizarre attempt to get to know the private person behind the public persona.

Organized in cooperation with Irena Kovářová.
