Dreams of a Great Small Nation

Kevin J. McNamara will speak about his book called Dreams of a Great Small Nation. The book earned high praise in The Wall Street Journal, Publisher’s Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, two journals in the United Kingdom (History of War and The Literary Review), and two newspapers in the Czech Republic (Hospodářské Noviny and Lidovky). It was the subject of a two-part interview on Radio Prague, and it was excerpted in three American periodicals (Russian Life, Military History Quarterly, and Slovo) and in the Slovak periodical, Historicka Revue.

Kevin J. McNamara will speak in Arlington, VA, and Baltimore, MD, at free events in coming weeks.
The events are free and open to the public.  You can bring your own copy of Dreams of a Great Small Nation to autographed, the books will not be sold at these events.

On Sunday, April 28, at 2:00 pm, the author will summarize the dramatic events surrounding the Czech-Slovak Legion inside revolutionary Russia – and its surprise role in liberating the Czechs and Slovaks inside the Austro-Hungarian Empire – from his book, Dreams of a Great Small Nation.  His host is the Czech and Slovak Heritage Association (CSHA) of Maryland.  Location:  Woodbrook Baptist Church, 25 Stevenson Lane, Baltimore, MD.  The event is free and open to the public.  No RSVPs are necessary.

On Saturday, May 4, at 1:30 pm, the author will talk to the Slovak American Society of Washington, DC, and the Friends of Slovakia about Milan R. Štefánik, the dashing Slovak aviator and explorer whose support was crucial for the achievement of Czecho-Slovak independence in 1918.  Štefánik perished in a plane crash on May 4, 1919, as he returned to help lead the new republic of Czecho-Slovakia.  Location:  Arlington Central Library, Bluemont Room (2nd floor), 1015 North Quincy St., Arlington, VA.  The event is free, but seating is limited, so RSVP quickly with an email to rsvp@dcslovaks.org.
