PALISSIMO: Endangered Pieces (Open Studio)

Endangered Pieces – an exclusive sneak peek at the new work of a dancer and choreographer with roots from the former Czechoslovakia, Pavel Zustiak and his group Palissimo.

To be placed on waiting list please email tickets@palissimo.com

Pavel Zustiak, born in the former Czechoslovakia, is a choreographer, dancer and sound designer, who currently lives and works in New York City. Since his debut at seventeen, he has won several awards, including the prestigious Princess Grace Choreography Award. Besides his individual achievements, including leading choreography for theater plays or workshops of dance improvisation and composition, he has become famous thanks to three evening-length works shown in New York City with his group Palissimo, which he founded in 2003.

In September, Zustiak will present the newest production of his group Palissimo called Endangered Pieces. An excerpt of the work followed by questions and answers with the artists will provide insight into the creative process of the new production, which will have its world premiere at Abrons Arts Center on October 2, 2013.

The performance of Pavel Zustiak and his group Palissimo will be accompanied by live music by Christian Frederickson and Bobby McElvera and light effects by Joe Levasseur. The project is supported by Abrons Arts Center, Czech Center New York, Vermont Performance Lab and Stanica Zilina, The Jerome Foundation, The Mertz Gilmore Foundation, Trust for Mutual Understanding and New Music USA.
