At the Time – Husák‘s Silence (Tenkrát II –

Husákovo ticho)

Director: Robert Sedláček, 2002, 80 min.

Robert Sedláček and Radim Procházka documented the period of their early childhood, the 1970s and ‚80s—the so-called normalization period and some of the most difficult time in the modern Czech history—by filming conversations with their own parents and other ordinary and extraordinary people. They present their film as a study of human dignity. They pose questions that their subjects answer honestly, giving the audience and unusual entrance into the private world behind the public lives of people who live in an unfree society. Among the protagonists of their film appear known and unknown dissidents as well as current politicians such as Václav Klaus and Petr Pithart. Preceeded by „Things“, a short documentary by Marta Hrubá from the omnibus film „4 Things – Four Directors‘ Films“.

Film Club is organized in cooperation with Irena Kovarova.
