A classic feature film about General George Patton, considered one of 20th century’s greatest military minds. The film won 8 Academy Awards, including for best picture. Directed by Franklin J. Schaffner. 171 min.

This 1970 American movie classic earned actor George C. Scott an Oscar for his portrayal of general George Patton, the only Allied general truly feared by the Nazis. Patton is considered one of the 20th century’s greatest military minds. Charismatic, flamboyant and eccentric, Patton designed his own uniforms, sported ivory-handled six-shooters, and believed he was a warrior in past lives. The film presents key incidents in Patton's campaigns from North Africa and Sicily to his extraordinary and unstoppable post D-Day dash across France.  But Patton had a rebellious and volatile side and ultimately, the film suggests, Patton’s personality turned out to be the one enemy he could never defeat.

“The most refreshing thing about "Patton" is that…the subject matter and the style of the epic war movie are perfectly matched.”
