The People vs. History - Film Club launch

Hitler, Stalin & I (Hitler, Stalin a já), dir. Helena Třeštíková, 2001

The Czech Center is launching a new program section of video screenings introducing films for special interest audiences, starting with a series of

documentaries. Personal stories played out on the background of the tumultuous modern Czech history are at heart of the entire series. Film Club and Video Thursdays series are organized in cooperation with Irena Kovářová.

The first heroin is Heda Margoliusová-Kovaly whose fate sounds stranger than fiction. After surviving Nazi camps and luckily reuniting with her husband after the war, she had to suffer again in the 1950s when he was indicted in the infamous Slánský trial and later executed.
