From Democracy to Dictatorship and Genocide

LECTURE. Benjamin Frommer: "The Ghetto without Walls: The Identification, Isolation and Deportation of Bohemian and Moravian Jewry, 1938-1945"

Professor Benjamin Frommer, Department of History, Northwestern University, specializes in the history of Central Europe, with a focus on the periods of Nazi and Communist rule.

He is the author of National Cleansing: Retribution against Nazi Collaborators in Postwar Czechoslovakia

(New York: Cambridge University Press, 2005), which was published in Czech translation by Academia Publishers (Prague, 2010). In this lecture, Professor Frommer will talk about the wartime destruction of two of the world's most integrated and intermarried Jewish communities, the Bohemian and Moravian Jews.
