Hair - Summer on the Roof

This screening of the film is a part of Summer on the Roof film serie.

HAIR

(Vlasy), 1979, 121 min, dir. Milos Forman

Hair is a 1979 musical war comedy-drama and film adaptation of the 1968 Broadway musical of the same name about a Vietnam war draftee who meets and befriends a tribe of long-haired hippies on his way to the army induction center. The hippies introduce him to their environment of marijuana, LSD, unorthodox relationships and draft dodging.

The film was directed by Miloš Forman, who was nominated for a César Award for his work on the film.

It would be hard to imagine films without songs and music as they follow the cinematography from its beginning. The songs play a prominent role in transmitting deep emotion of love and joy but also despair or revolt in a unique way that touches, opens or break down boundaries. This year’s selection of rooftop films reflects various tendencies in the use of music and songs revealing the different moods in the 20th Century.

We invite you to join us in this exciting journey through images and sounds!
