Hana Bartošová - Organ Recital

The Gabe Wiener Concert Series is delighted to present this FREE recital by Hana Bartošová.


Ms Bartošová is among the most eminent Czech organists and propagators of Czech music abroad. She studied organ and harpsichord at the Brno conservatory in the class of Prof. Josef Pukl and at the Janáček Academy of Music in Brno in the class of Prof. Alena Veselá. During her studies she participated in many national and international competitions where she received several prizes and awards. She extended her education by participating in master classes with eminent world organ players and teachers: Flor Peeters, Luigi Celeghin, Michael Schneider and Gaston Litaize. Her broad range of repertoire includes studies in pro...per performance practices on significant historical instruments and baroque music. In addition she frequently premieres new works by Czech composers from the region of Brno, e.g. Vladimír Werner, František Emmert, Zdeněk Pololáník and Milan Slimáček.
Ms. Bartosova frequently performs at prestigious festivals in her country as well as abroad. She has presented concerts throughout Europe (Austria, Italy, Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Schwitzerland, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ireland, Croatia etc.), Russia and the USA. She performs with various soloists and ensembles, also with her daughter Iva Bartošová, a talented concert pianist.

She has collaborated on several recordings of the Brno Children’s Choir Primavera, records for Czech and foreign radio and television companies and on CDs. As a teacher, she devotes her time to young organists and is a regular member of various competition juries. She is interested as a member of commissions in the aspects of new organ-building in her town, and she is also a member ORGAN RING Lux/Cz/Sk.. She is also Artistic Director of the International Organ Festival in Brno.

Highlights of her recent concert schedule include The 25th Annual Organ Festival in Sant Elpidio, Italy, under the auspices of Enio Moricone, The Days of The Czech Culture in Nancy, France, Ceremonial Concerts on the occasion of the EU Security Council meeting in Prague, and a Concert for Europe in St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, held by the Czech Embassy, and The Organ Night Festival in Bucharest by invitation of the Czech Culture Centre and Romanian Radio.
In 2010, she made her American concert debut by invitation of the Czech Heritage Partnership. She performed with program of Czech organ music in Iowa, Wisconsin and Maryland. Her program was featured for the 150th Anniversary Festival Celebration of St. Wenceslaus Church in Spillville, Iowa – the oldest Czech Catholic Church in the USA, home to the historic organ frequently played by Antonín Dvořák in the summer of 1893.
