Icing

Part of the CZECH THAT FILM Festival. Icing (Zakázané uvolnění), dir. Jan Hřebejk, 2014, 81 min, English subtitles.

An explosive and controversial comedy film, based on the successful theatre play that tells an unusual story of one wedding, a remote village bar and an ice hockey match. What all can happen, when the kidnapped bride is getting drunk together with the best woman of the groom and experienced barmaid and the only one, who is able to stop and save everything, is not coming?

A laugh-out loud film proving that what is meant to be your perfect day can sometimes turn into a not-so-perfect tragedy.

This festival, that takes place across the USA, is a colorful display of the Czech homelands modern achievements in film. This year’s films are exceptional. While their flavoring remains uniquely Czech, these movies will speak to everyone, young and old, American or Czech.
