If a Thousand Clarinets (Kdyby tisíc klarinetů)
Directed by Jan Rohac and Vladimir Svitacek, 1965, 130 min.

The deserter Schulz is a lousy soldier but a good clarinet player. As he tries to escape from a military garrison near the town of Alkalis, he is caught, and when he is danger of being shot, the machine guns of his captors are transformed into clarinets - as are all the other weapons of the military base. A TV crew from the station Televis convince the soldiers that the musical instruments look much nicer than weapons, and the soldiers agree to quickly rehearse and put on a huge chorus show the next evening at the base. The Minister of War orders this insurgency stopped. Officers of the base feel the same and plot to thwart the broadcast of the show and bring the situation back to "normal".
