The John Lennon Wall in New York City
You are cordially invited to attend the opening of our creative exhibition entitled The John Lennon Wall in NY on Monday July 27, 2015 at 7pm.
The Czech Center New York is inviting the public to become a part of the "Spirit of the Building" by leaving their creative mark of expression on their John Lennon Wall in NY. Similar to the wall in Prague, we have transformed our gallery into the modernized version.
The wall was a well known symbol of expression of freedom under the communist regime. In 1980 after John Lennon's death, Czechs began expressing their grievances by painting on it. Today everyone is welcomed to come and paint over the hundreds of layers that have been painted and written on.

The Czech Center will begin to create a modern version of this symbol of love and peace for NYC on Monday July 27th. This creative exhibition is open for everyone to leave their imprint as a memory.
The opening ceremony will start at 7pm with the unveiling of the wall art facilitated by visual artist Anna Adler, followed by the welcoming of the public to contribute to the wall by adding their creative mark. During the evening there will be a live performance, “An Understanding, 2015” by Shige Moriya and Ximena Garnica (LEIMAY) in collaboration with Denisa Musilova.
The process in which the "birth of the wall" will come to life is going to be captured through photos and animated video. This will be a unique experience that you do not want to miss.
This creative exhibition will be open to the public to participate in Monday through Friday from 11am-6pm until August 25, 2015.
