Petr Jan Juračka and Czech expert climber Klára Kolouchová joined the USA International K2 Expedition to climb the K2 mountain in Pakistan. His stunning photographs capture their climb up the dangerous and legendary second highest peak in the world. Using both still and drone photography, he captured never before seen images of the beautiful and serene landscape, and earned the Guiness Book of World Records record for flying a drone at the highest altitude.
The MYSTIC K2 exhibition shows professional images of this expedition, from night sky imagery, landscapes, portraits of porters and climbers on their way up, including Klára. Despite the fact that no one has reached the summit in the last two years, the K2 expedition was a life changing experience for both Klára and Petr.
INFORMATION ON THE EXPEDITION
PETR AND KLÁRA
Petr Jan Juračka, Ph.D. is a Czech professional nature & science photographer and filmmaker who has traveled around the world photographing landscapes, animals and scientific specimens. He is also a hydrobiologist and professor at Charles University in Prague.
Klára Kolouchová is a Czech expert climber who has summited the highest peaks in the world - Mt. Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Cho-Oyu. In 2007 she became the first Czech woman to conquer Mt. Everest.
Together with the famous American guide Garrett Madison, they left for K2 in June 2016. Klára has experience with the highest mountains in the world, so she was fully focused on reaching the summit, while Petr had another goal - photographing, filming and flying the drone. Petr had never been so high before, but he had trained a great deal. The climb was a test for both the drones and his body.
