Part of the European Literature Night event at Bohemian National Hall on the same evening, this event will feature the reading of an excerpt of the book This is Where it Ends Marieke Nijkamp, read by actor Joel Brady, followed by an in-person conversation between moderator Tim Mohr and writer Marieke Nijkamp, a Dutch fiction writer whose first novelThis is Where it Ends was a New York Times Young Adult Bestseller. Followed by a Q&A.

Marieke Nijkamp 

Marieke Nijkamp was born and raised in the Netherlands. A lifelong student of stories, language, and ideas, she is more or less proficient in about a dozen languages and holds degrees in philosophy, history, and medieval studies. She is a storyteller, dreamer, globe-trotter, geek. Her #1 New York Times bestselling debut novel, This Is Where It Ends, follows four teens during the fifty-four minutes of a school shooting. Her sophomore novel, Before I Let Go, will be out in January 2018.

 



 

Tim Mohr 

Tim Mohr is a literary translator of authors including Alina Bronsky, Charlotte Roche, Stefanie de Velasco, and Wolfgang Herrndorf. His debut translation, of Guantanamo, by Dorothea Dieckmann, won the Three Percent Award for best translated book of 2007; The Hottest Dishes of the Tartar Cuisine, by Bronsky, was named a 2012 Book of the Year by Publishers Weekly. In addition, Mohr has collaborated on three critically-acclaimed music memoirs: It’s So Easy, by Duff McKagan of Guns n’ Roses, The Last Holiday, by Gil Scott-Heron, and Face the Music, by Paul Stanley of KISS. His own writing has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Inked, and Huffington Post, among other publications. He also spent time as a staff editor at Playboy magazine, where he worked with writers such as Hunter S. Thompson, Matt Taibbi, and Harvey Pekar. Prior to starting his writing career, Mohr made his living as a club DJ in Berlin.

 

Joel Brady 

Joel Brady is a professional actor based in NY. His past credits include (TV/Film) Boardwalk Empire, Blue Bloods, Law&Order:SVU, Men in Black III, The Judge, Bridge of Spies and he can recently be seen the new Amazon series, Z:The Beginning of Everything. He would also like to mention he got to work with director Marie Dvorakova in her film Who's Who in Mycology which has been selected for Cinequest and Palm Springs Film Festival among others.
