Czech Dream - Superstore for better life!

What started off as a low-budget film school project for Remunda and Klusak (two of Eastern Europe’s most promising young filmmakers) soon escalated into a national hoax, drawing thousands of people to a false mega shopping mart via the persuasive means of slick advertising. While the government were paving the way into Europe and spending millions on advertising to elicit a yes vote from the Czech people, Klusak and Remunda set up their own campaign to sell nothing to no-one.

CZECH DREAM is a funny and provocative look at the effects of rampant consumerism on a post – communist society. CZECH DREAM is timely and topical, especially with the recent entry of the Czech Republic and other Eastern European countries to the EU – it even became a talking point in Czech Parliament. As well as with people’s changing attitudes to consumerism and globalisation, it is equally relevant to capitalist societies all over the world.
