Mutual Discoveries

A collection of movie screenings created by American students from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts) in Prague.

The relationship between Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and FAMU stretches back 17 years, ever since the first group of 12 students spent a summer semester abroad in Prague, learning 35MM filmmaking from the faculty at FAMU. Today, students also have the opportunity to attend FAMU in the spring and fall semesters,  while still filming on state of the art 35mm technology. This program allows the students to immerse themselves in the people and culture of Prague, as well as within the Czech cinematic culture. This fruitful partnership continues to offer the students incredible opportunities to not only learn a new skill set, but to focus on personalized forms of visual storytelling where as one alumnus put it, "nothing should be without a purpose."
