Celebrated Czech novelist and playwright Ivan Klima talks about the intersection of literature and politics with Myla Goldberg, musican, novelist and fellow chronicler of Prague. With Klima's memoir, My Crazy Century, as a starting point, this session will explore writing about the political, writing about the sublime, and the writing about all that is between the two.

Ivan Klima was born in Prague in 1931, where he still resides. He is the author of over thirty plays, essay collections, and novels, including Waiting for the Dark, Waiting for the Light, No Saints or Angels, The Ultimate Intimacy, and Lovers for a Day—all New York Times Notable Books of the Year—as well as love and Garbage. My Crazy Century won the prestigious Magnesia Litera Award for nonfiction.
