Dvorak and His Legacy in Choral Music and Song

The Queens College Choir, Aaron Copland School of Music, conducted by James John, presents a concert of choral works and song highlighting Antonín Dvořák's influence on American music.

Tracing his lineage as a teacher at the National Conservatory of Music of America in New York City and the crucial role of folk music in establishing an American style, the program will include selections from Dvořák's Songs of Nature, Op. 63, Czech folksong arrangements by Zdeněk Lukáš, spirituals by Harry T. Burleigh (Dvořák's student) and Moses Hogan, as well as music by John Corigliano and Aaron Copland.  Guest artist Amanda Chmela, soprano, will also perform Dvořák's Gypsy Songs, Op. 55.

Bohemian National Hall, 321 East 73rd Street, 4th floor.  General admission to be paid at door: $20. Seniors, Students, Czech Center Club: $10. Reservations not required.
