The Czech Center 2015 ROOFTOP CINÉ-CONCERT SERIES kicks off on Tuesday 7 July with the first of its unique convergences.

WATCH CINÉ-CONCERT SERIES TEASER

The rooftop will be transformed into a speakeasy of the roaring 20’s with flapper girls and swanky fellows in their best glad rags. Ladies, throw on a feather boa or a string of pearls, and Gents don a fedora, some oxford bags and a bow tie to get into the swing of things.

TEASER THE LOVES OF KACENKA STRNADOVA

The evening starts at 7pm with welcome cocktails and 20’s themed finger foods. Then experience the real McCoy musical big cheeses of the Francesco Beccaro Trio. Francesco, originally from Italy is a Bass player that has had the pleasure of performing and recording with many artists, including: Popa Chubby, Savion Glover, Monifah, Jimmy Cobb, F.I.R, L.E.S Pipes, Carmine Appice, Joe Clausell, K Drew to name a few. The multi- award winning guitarist Matthias ‘Pedals’ Loescher and drumming sensation, Jordan Perlson, joins him for the opening concert.

Our ‘Fallen Women’ themed silent movie for the opening night is The Loves of Kacenka Strnadova. This silent comedy depicts the adventures of Dame Kacenka and und Herr Vincek, two innocent country bumpkins who move from a small Czech town to the bustling city of Prague. It is a delight of funny gags involving misunderstandings, exaggerated mime, fake aristocrats, unrequited love and the usual bewilderment of country people in a big city. The Francesco Beccaro Trio will underscore the movie.

Director: Svatopluk Innemann, 1926, 98min., silent film
