How will our lives change? Lectures from one pandemic

Epidemiologist Petr Smejkal will evaluate our prospects for the future via a video conference. ‘How will our lives change? Lectures from one pandemic’ is the title of a forthcoming debate with MUDr. Petr Smejkal, chief epidemiologist of the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine IKEM and a collaborator of the American Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, which you can watch online on May 12 at 19:00 CEST. The leading Czech expert on epidemics and infectious diseases analyzes Czech model of response considered one of the most successful in the European context, and will offer its perspective on the future development of the pandemic and its impact on our lives in the coming months and years. The online conference will be held in English via Facebook Centro Checo de Madrid and Zoom.


MUDr. Petr Smejkal (Prague, 1972) graduated from Czech and American universities and has been working in internal medicine and infectious medicine for a long time. He currently works as a chief epidemiologist at the IKEM Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, and since 2008 has worked with Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in the United States, where he is chairman of the Committee for Infectious Diseases. Among other things, he is also a member of the Academic Senate and an assistant professor at the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and the General University Hospital in Prague.
