This photography exhibit portrays a handful of the many victims of communism who should be remembered on the 60th anniversary of the communist coup in February 1948. February 1948, was a fatal turning point for Czechoslovaks – when they had to decide whether to fight the new order, go with the flow and survive, or become or remain a communist, in short, become someone who kept totalitarianism alive. The people presented in detailed life portraits by this exhibition made their fateful decisions, and for those decisions were condemned by the communist authorities to many years in prisons and labor camps. The Office of the Government of the Czech Republic approached the civic association Post Bellum, whose member journalists and historians spent 7 years recording and archiving the stories of eyewitnesses.
