The Czech Center together with  the +421 Foundation, the Czech Consulate General in New York, and the Consulate General of Slovakia in New York organized  The Velvet Revolution Party to commemorate the anniversary of the fall of communism in former Czechoslovakia in November 1989.

The party took place at the New York’s most prestigious club Pink Elephant on November 16. The program included a performance by singers Marta Topferova from the Czech Republic and Brigita Tarinova from Slovakia. The audience also applauded to dancers of Dusan Tynek group.

The aim of a silent auction featuring works of Czech and Slovak visual artists was to raise funds to support Zlin Orphanage in Lazy, Czech Republic and Reocentrum – the premier treatment center for children with cerebral palsy disease in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The cultural program was followed by a dance party.
