VELVET ORATORIO

A book launch for the wide release of the libretto of The Velvet Oratorio being published by Theater 61 Press.

Featuring:

Excerpts from the piece, performed live as a staged reading
Video of the original performance at the Bohemian National Hall
A talk back with the creators and specials guests

 
The Velvet Oratorio was commissioned as part of Performing Revolutions, a festival celebrating the 20th anniversary of the revolutions in Central and Eastern Europe. It told the story of the Velvet Revolution through the eyes of Vaclav Havel's character, Vanek, both as parody and tribute. It also featured full, operatic choruses that told the story of the revolution in song.
