Velvet Revolution - 25 Years in retrospect

The revolution in today's context. Civic activists Pavol Demeš and Šimon Pánek will discuss the events surrounding the Velvet Revolution and its aftermath. Moderated by Consuls General Martin Dvořák and Jana Trnovcová.

Pavol Demeš is a Senior Fellow at the German Marshall Fund and member of the Board of the European Endowment for Democracy, based in Bratislava, Slovakia. Previously Mr. Demeš served as the Foreign Minister of Slovakia and as an advisor to President Michal Kováč. Mr. Demeš hosts his own Internet TV program on international relations and diplomacy via the Slovak Press Agency.

Šimon Pánek is the founding director of the People in Need Organization. Mr. Pánek is a member of the European Council on Foreign Relations and member of the Board of the European Partnership for Democracy. Previously he served at Vaclav Havel’s Presidential Office at the Department of Foreign Policy and was the Chair of the Board of the Open Society Fund Prague.
