Viktor Valášek's Open Studio Night
Saturday, July 26 between 5 and 10 pm
DE-CONSTRUKT [projekts]
41 Seabring St, 3rd fl., Brooklyn

Viktor Valášek, a painter based in Prague, Czech Republic is the first artist in residence for 2014 summer in residence program at DE-CONSTRUKT [projekts]. Valášek has been working in the Red Hook studio since the beginning of July and is hosting an opening night as part of his Recycled Vol.II – NYC, the continuation of a project started at an artist residency in Gloucester, Massachusetts 2012.

The reception will exhibit Valášek’s work from his project Recycled Vol.II – NYC, an exercise in reusing, remaking or recycling unwanted canvases from donators. These canvases are the basis of his new work in which Valášek incorporates the donors themselves by either painting their portraits on top or using their likeliness in other ways that could only be specified once met in person.
