“If I could be you, if you could be me for just one hour. Before you abuse, criticize and accuse, Walk a mile in my shoes” (Credits: Joe South, Elvis Presley)
We are inviting you to visit and take part in a unique interactive exhibition enhancing its traditional visual presentation with audio experience. “Walk A Mile In My Shoes”  features conceptual portraits by Czech photographer Adela Wagnerova accompanied by a musical art piece by Kimberly Venetz  which opens a dialogue about gender roles, exploring their forms, limitations and the social pressure to fit into them.

Adela says, “Czech Center NY allowed me to enhance my work by collaborating with an American musician Kimberly Venetz (DJ Alkimist), bringing together Czech and American culture and joining forces of two female artists to shine light on gender roles issues. I am very excited to add an audio element to my photographs amplifying the experience for the visitors. Women, as well as men, face a social pressure connected to gender roles on a daily basis.
There are very few women in my industry and it can be challenging to establish a position of respect amongst men. My ideas, input and knowledge often get dismissed strictly due to my gender. My female friends are used to being objectified on the street every day, and we are all pressed with time when it comes to leading a professional life and starting a family. But, all this is just one side of a coin. I want to bring these issues we deal with to light and make men experience what women do as well as give women a chance to understand the struggles men face.
We offer visitors of the opening of “Walk A Mile In My Shoes” exhibition a unique opportunity to let themselves experience how does it feel to walk in shoes of the opposite gender.

Visitors who decide to have their portrait taken will then become a part of the rest of the exhibition.
