Summer Live Videoshow on Facebook.
Guest Radka Salcmannová
On Tuesday, July 21, at 4PM we will meet, face to face with our first guest, a young Czech actor Ronald Prokeš.
Czech Center New York is opening a new chapter of our online programming with our summer live programs from the safe place of our apartment high in the skyline of New York City.
We are following all guidelines for this Covid pandemic, but at the same time we are here to fulfill our chief goal: to promote Czech Culture in the US and across North America.
If the situation allows, we will introduce one guest every week and use the opportunity to tell you what else we are preparing online with our team at the Czech Center New York.
Ronald Prokeš – Czech actor and musician in New York
Ronald was born in Brtnice, Velke Popovice, a village just east of the Czech capital, Prague. His mother still lives there and he still calls it home. He went to the first English speaking kindergarten in the Czech Republic and then continued his education in English at the English College in Prague. This is where his love of acting was allowed to develop.
He acted in many plays there alongside professional theater companies, such as Prague Shakespeare Company. With them he played in the Kolowrat Theater as well as in Stavovske Divadlo – the same one where Mozart’s Don Giovanni once premiered. He also did some modelling for Elite Prague during this time.
After completing his International Baccalaureate, he studied Education with English and Drama at Cambridge University. Throughout his studies in Prague and in the UK he pursued his love of acting as well as music and karate, which have been a constant in his life.
From the UK, he moved west to the East coast of the US to study acting at the News York University Tisch School of the Arts. This year he completed his M.F.A. there, becoming the first Czech to have done so.
He also founded a small theatre company called DuoMuzi. Their production of a two-man Antony and Cleopatra as well as their original work toured London, Athens, NYC and multiple locations along the East coast of the US. They even made it to California. Ronald Prokeš is now eagerly working towards starting his acting and music career in the US.
This program is sponsored by Trebitsch Whisky, first Czech single malt whisky in the US.
